Hey guys! This is Taylor blogging for Shawn. He is a busy boy just like the rest of us so I apologize it’s me and not himJ. Just wanted to let everyone know what we have been up to. Sorry it has taken so long since Dallas. Between getting ready for Vegas and everyone being sick, it kind of put a halt on that whole show. Clearly, we were EXTREMELY happy with how we did down at the Fall Nationals. We finally broke “the curse” of getting past second round! That was a huge weight off of our shoulders let me tell you! We all went home pretty happy! What a wild weekend though…Dallas welcomed Bill, our crew chief, with a text message saying that his daughter was going into labor with his first grandchild as he was coming off the plane! So we had to fly him back that night (he did make it there in time if you are wondering) and back to Dallas the next day! His daughter had a baby girl! Needless to say, he was a little tired of airplanes by the end of the trip but I am sure it was worth it! Congrats to Bill and Shirleen…You will be amazing grandparents! I can see we are going to have a hard time dragging Shirleen to the racetrack now!
As far as what I heard, the boys had an interesting trip down to Texas. The stories are quite entertaining so if you run into one of them, ask about it! It has something to do with snow, making some wrong turns, and too much trucker food! Thank goodness I am a college student who flies! Poor Shawn gets a little jealous that he doesn’t get to fly too but he gets the payoff of driving the car!
At this point in the year, we are all just trying to have a good time and I think that really made a difference in Dallas because we didn’t let ourselves be pressured with points or rounds. We just wanted to have fun and we did! We certainly got lucky on a lot of our elimination rounds and then again, not so lucky in the final. Holy moly that was SUCH a close race! We completely exceeded our expectations for the weekend so we weren’t too disappointed. Props go to Shawn for his AMAZING lights. We were so proud of him! Congratulations to Marty Thacker and their crew for an awesome win! Good job guys! We all ended the day with some good Mexican food down the road with Whiteley, Norm, and the gang.
We are so pumped about Vegas! We have never raced there on Halloween so it should be really fun! Of course we want to do well but if we don’t, we aren’t going to sweat it. Just there to race, see friends, and have a blast! Poor Lucy is in a million pieces at the shop but I am sure Shawn will have everything ready to go as soon as he gets better (he is at home with a cold). I think I passed on that lovely autumn gift to him. Whoops! Well, we cannot wait to get out of this nasty Northwest weather! I have to run to class now. Hope to see all of you in a couple of weeks!
