June Road Swing

Well…after a long month of racing…I am finally home and holy crap, do I have a lot to talk about! This road swing certainly was challenging at times and I am not usually much of a complainer. Needless to say, it did not go as we had hoped. So we start out in Mission back in May and we were completely stoked being that it was our home track. One word. RAIN, RAIN, AND MORE RAIN. We were more exhausted by doing nothing than by the few runs that we actually did make. On Friday, I was a little upset that they called the race because it rained for about 15 minutes and then actually cleared up the rest of the day but, it is what it is. They are going to finish that race at the Seattle Divisional in August so we’ll be ready. We proceed to go onto Chicago for the All-Stars event and again, Mother Nature followed us there too. This time it was way worse. I have never seen rain like that before where it comes so fast and floods the pits and then it is gone 5 minutes later. We took some pictures of a trash can circling a drain in the pits. I did like the fact that Chicago had no curfew so we were able to make our runs even though it was at midnight when we did it! We dealt with a tornado warning, flash floods, and extremely long days to runner-up in the All-Stars and lose in the semi-finals in the actual event. It wasn’t too bad but we had some motor damage that was out of our hands in the semis. We figured, well, let’s try and kick some butt in Fallon. Well was I wrong or what? I am not really going to go into details about this one because I will probably want to use language that I shouldn’t. So, go to www.speedzonemagazine.com and read about it under the Fallon editorial and you guys can form your own opinion. Long story short, we got screwed over in the final because of poor communication and poor sportsmanship. ON TOP OF IT ALL, the jacks on the motorhome wouldn’t go up so I ended up rolling around in the gravel and dirt for two hours messing with the hydraulic pump. But I am going to “pull up my boot straps” and move on to the next race because what’s done is done and all I can do is be 150% ready to go. I am praying that the weather is cooperative for a change! Hopefully my countless hours at the shop this past week pay off and we can redeem ourselves in Woodburn. I just want to take a second to thank Dean Murdoch and Brian Hough for being so supportive in this whole Fallon thing. Brian was completely in my corner when it all went down and Dean took the opportunity to write about the event in a professional manner whereas I would have probably been not so professional haha. I tend to get a little carried away but I am sure that if you were in my position, you would have as well. Well, better get back to work. See all of you in a week!
